In 2013 I arrived in Shenzhen on my birthday - so they had a party!
Well to be honest they had the party planned anyway - the birthday part was a coincidence - but even so it was a nice coincidence. The party went on till early hours of the morning, up until when the neighbour complained, but maybe not because of the noise so much as the singing by then was going off key.
